Does the Avatar cycle ever end?

Unalaq then fought Korra as the Dark Avatar and managed to sever her from Raava's spirit. He then struck a depleted Raava multiple times, killing all of the Avatar spirits that existed inside of her. Doing so ended the first Avatar Cycle, ultimately making Aang the last Avatar.

Are there any past Avatars in Avatar Korra?

  • The drama of Korra's connection to the Avatar cycle being destroyed is an understandable thing for the show to opt for, but the past Avatars are such rich and interesting characters that it would be a shame to close them off from inclusion in all future stories.

Is it the end of the Avatar cycle?

  • While Raava was reborn, it's not the same Raava that was with Aang, Roku, Kyoshi, etc etc etc. That was the connection and it got destroyed. But Wan also didn't have any former avatars to help him, so I guess its not the end of the world.

What happens at the end of Legend of Korra?

  • The Legend of Korra is a show about trauma and change – about how endings become beginnings, and new growth comes from the destruction of the old. Beyond this thematic tie-in, the end of season 2 makes sense from a narrative standpoint, given the initial role of the Avatar between the physical world and the Spirit World.

Who was the best character in the legend of Korra?

  • This breaking of the cycle will leave Korra and subsequent Avatars to totally fend for themselves and learn new bending skills on their own. Iroh is arguably the best character across both series of Avatar and he got the ending he deserved in The Legend of Korra.
