Sacrifice has always been a major theme on this show, so it made sense for Clary to have to give up what she loved most in order to fulfill her destiny. The fact that she and Jace still ended up together in spite of that was a welcome treat that I wasn't expecting. Unfortunately, not everyone agrees with this.

Clary sees Jace as perfect, kind, and amazing, and is worried that he might turn into a monster. She doesn't want to live the way her mother did. I think that she is scared about the prospect of marriage, but doesn't want to lose Jace, either.
