Durin o Imortal foi o mais velho dos Sete Pais dos Anões, criados por Aulë durante a Primeira Era do Mundo. Ele foi chamado "o Imortal" pois viveu muito até uma idade de longe mais avançada do que qualquer outro Anão e por isso foi reverenciado como o mais velho de sua raça.

According to a legend, Fëanor conceived the idea of capturing the light of the trees from the hair of Galadriel, which shone with gold and silver. Fëanor gave his heart to their making and could not duplicate them.
