Dota 1 is a MOBA game – MOBA stands for multiplayer online battle arena. In Dota, ten players join the game, everyone chooses an unique hero and they play 5 vs 5 until one team takes the lead! Custom games are maps that are created by players and not from Blizzard.

Is Dota 1 owned by Blizzard?
DotA was first released as a custom map for Warcraft 3 under the name Defense of the Ancients. Blizzard acquired the ownership of the full name in 2012, while Valve kept rights to shortened version, Dota. Valve also obtained the rights to Dota 2 from the game's lead-developer, IceFrog, and creator, Eul, in 2010.

- Dota was made by Eul in ROC, who then left Wc3 for generic reasons. It was taken over and there were lots and LOTS of different stolen copies. When TFT came, only 1 of the Dota's was to peoples liking. Today, we know this dota as "Allstars" and is made by Icefrog, who infact stole it from Eul.
How do you play Dota?
- Click on "Play Dota" at the bottom right, then choose "Practice With Bots", where you will be able to select the difficulty and team. Always play against bots first. The strangers you get paired against will not be...welcoming if you suck. Another way to play against bots is to join a Co-op bot match.
