Earth-199999 Earth-199999 is the designated universe number for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a shared fictional universe which crosses over superhero films and television produced by Marvel Studios.
Is the MCU and Earth-616 the same?
- There is no difference. Eleven years ago, an update to the Marvel Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe identified the Marvel Cinematic Universe as taking place on Earth-199999. The films have either been unaware that someone in the comics world made that distinction or they have chosen to ignore it - with good reason.

- Earth-199999 is more scientifically oriented than Earth-616. For example, whereas the gods from the original comics have genuinely supernatural powers, in Earth-199999, the Asgardians' powers seem to be from exotic and advanced alien technology.
