Wano Country is inspired by Feudal Japan. In SBS Volume 56, Oda said that in real life, Zoro would be from Japan. Most likely Zoro was born in Wano or at the very least his ancestors were from Wano. In chapter 909, we learned that Zoro's alias is Zorojuro (Juro means 10th son).
