Prince Zuko (later known as Fire Lord Zuko) is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Katara) of Nickelodeon's Avatar: The Last Airbender. He serves as the secondary antagonist of Book One: Water, an anti-hero in Book Two: Earth, and the deuteragonist of Book Three: Fire.
Why did Zuko become good?
He sees the suffering his nation has caused, and realizes the fire nation is not above the other nation. This realization along with Iroh's help, pushes him to act on the good inside of him.
Does Zuko end up good?
Despite his difficult beginnings, Zuko became a great Fire Lord who helped to reform not only the Fire Nation, but the rest of the world as well. And thanks to The Legend of Korra, we know that he lived a long life after his adventures in Avatar: The Last Airbender ended.

He was actually a scary threat to Aang, Katara, and her people. This is the Zuko who is still hurting from everything that’s happened to him, so he’s lashing out.

- He was strong, yet he showed mercy. Zuko was proud, but he could also be humble when required. He was royalty, but he had learned to survive on his own. His journey was incredibly interesting to watch as he learned more about himself, the world, and what it means to follow your destiny.
Why did Zuko ask avatar to end his life?
- Zuko realizes that the reality of leadership may change him for the worse, and he has to ask his new friend, the almighty avatar, to end his life if he goes bad. It's heart-wrenching to see Zuko think like this. It seems he can't have one solid week of happy, carefree days.
What are the best traits of Zuko in the Last Airbender?
- Zuko has been burned, both literally and figuratively, by the people who should have loved him the most. Because of this, he’s not automatically open to affection or to giving affection. One of the best traits Zuko has is his willingness to change. He is very adaptable, and he makes the biggest shift of any other character.
