Is Wally West African American?
One of the characters who got rewritten was Wally West. His history was changed, so that his mother was black, and himself bi-racial, with his appearance reflecting his black ancestry. However, a lot of fans of the Wally West version of the Flash were unhappy with this.
Is there an African American flash?
The Flash's Barry Allen is getting his iconic sidekick -- Kid Flash Wally West -- but with one big difference: He's African-American. Keiynan Lonsdale (Insurgent) has been cast as Wally West, known as Kid Flash, in the CW show. A speedster like the Flash, he gains his powers through a similar lab accident as Barry.

- Joining the Peace Corps and a Buddhist culture in Asia, Wally developed his connection with the Speed Force and trained to use it in new ways. In early 2020, he returned to Central City after the Crisis to visit his family, but also to warn Barry that his actions in Crisis had caused the Speed Force to start growing weak and dying.
