The Sherlock episode “The Reichenbach Fall” was very loosely based on Doyle's story “The Final Problem” in which both Moriarty and Holmes seem to fall to their death at the Reichenbach Falls in Switzerland. (Later it turns out that only Moriarty died, while Holmes faked his death.)
