Is Metroid Prime worth playing?

It's a great game, even if it's slightly the lesser compared to the first two. I actually liked Metroid Prime and MP 2's control scheme more then MP3's control, but it is absolutely worth playing.

The game isn't really that much more difficult. It has built in "difficulty" with the whole light and dark stuff it adds...which is really just added annoyance in my opinion. It was a decent game, but doesn't hold a candle to the first one.
