Can I trust Citra emulator?

Citra is open-source, anyone can inspect the code themselves to verify it isn't a virus. You only risk getting a virus by installing third party builds with unpublished source code, or by downloading ROMs from shady sites (something not condoned by this sub).

Is Citra emulator free?

Citra is free and open-source and is available for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android.

Can Citra play DS games?

  • For citra to include ds games, it means they would have to recode an entire ds emulator to get it to work. Outside of the name, the ds and the 3ds dont share much in common. (The 3ds does benefit some from the ds hardware as it reuses it for security stuff as far as i remember, but that doesnt need emulating to play 3ds games...

Can I run Citra?

  • No. You can’t run Citra, because your integrated graphics don’t support OpenGL 3.3. And even if you somehow get a better video card (though that’s impossible on a laptop), it wouldn’t even run the easiest to run games at even half speed.

How do I use Citra?

  • Usually the easiest way to use Citra is to use the installer and install nightly / canary. A description of both are on our downloads page. Then from there you’ll see it in your start menu. If you really want to use the manual download, just extract the zip file and run citra-qt.exe.

What files does Citra use?

  • Also, Citra is able to play .cxi , .3dsx, .axf and .elf files, being the 3dsx and the elf files 3DS homebrew, and the cxi files, dumped Installed Files from the own 3DS, like games bought from the eShop or things like Face Raiders , if I’m not wrong. .cci and .3ds are two file extensions for the exact same format: NCSD.
