Yes. Honestly, I will keep Cait mid as a pocket pick. It's fun; it's excellent if you leverage an early lead, and it's not the absolute worst thing you could bring mid. That said, it suffers from the fact that you're not the only ADC on the map.

Why can't ADCs go mid?
They usually have a lot of stuns and that make it harder for enemies to kill their ADC. So just like a tank, but for different reasons, an ADC is now harder to kill than the mage in mid lane. Its not optimal.
Which ADCs can be played mid?
Vayne, Quinn top, Corki, Kog'Maw, Ezreal, Varus, Quinn mid are all good ADCs outside of bot (off the top of my head) and if you really want, I personally enjoy Kalista, Lucian, Tristana, Draven mid lane ;). I wouldn't recommend playing Gnar like an ADC.

The biggest difference between playing a champ mid Lane or bot lane is levels. Bot lane is a shared lane (I'll explain why in a sec) and so you share experience. At most points in the game mid Lane will be a higher level than top lane if both play equally well.
Is ADC harder than mid?
A good ADC often makes or breaks the game. Now don't get me wrong, it can be harder to carry from an ADC role than mid, top or jungle. That's because you're reliant on your support as well. But to put it into another perspective, carrying the game on a support is much harder than carrying it on an ADC.
